just watched zach tryguys's video about the clown motel and now i desperately need a supernatural fic set there
#i have so many ideas!#rachel speaks#like#it could be sam and dean early days driving across country and they stumble upon this motel#sam obviously hates it but dean loves it and then they hear the stories of how it's actually super haunted#and so they have to stay to check it out#or#they find it the normal way like by doing research#and sam refuses to go so dean takes cas#and as they investigate they realize it's not maliciously haunted and in fact is very human#and ofc they fall in love/declare their love/just learn to aprpeciate each other more#depending on what stage of relationship/how canon the fic is#i mean zach at the end says 'go there to fall in love with humanity' it's like he knew what he was doing#spn

that post abt possession and cannibalism reminded meeeee of an au where when sam finds out hes being possessed by gadreel, he keeps him locked in his body and becomes obsessed with him and the idea that hes finally becoming pure.
#like a reverse possession :)#OR u could have it be like cas has 2 possess sam 2 save him at one point (expecting sam to make him leave the second hes conscious again#but when he wakes up hes all :( stay :( pls? its lonely by myself :(#so cas stays out of guilt and sam confides in him more and more about his insecurties and his demon-ness#b4 it starts to get a little weird and sams depending on him too much#and cas goes to tell sam he is going to leave because its whats best for sam at this stage. and sam refuses of course :)#sam has LOTS of experience w being possessed so maybe hed be better at taking control over the possessor?#maybe hed be able to keep cas in the backseat and pretend to be him to assure dean that everythings fine

[just a dumb little thing i wanted to write about Cas's bad moods being positively affected by dean's touch]
--
Dean scrubs a hand down his face and resists a loud sigh. Coffee. He needs coffee. Driving for eighteen hours straight isn’t good for anyone, but especially not for someone with a grumpy, newly ex-angel sitting shotgun.
Cas, tucked in the crowded line by Dean’s side, is oscillating between his typical feelings of disgruntled and fascinated by his surroundings. Just by the look on his face, Dean knows what he wants to complain about: the stuffy, small cafe is too hot, the people are talking too loud, and the barista at the counter is more focused on chatting with her customers than actually ordering their food, and Dean, why do humans insist on small talk if they’ll never see each other again? Most of these people are traveling and are transient, what is the point of commenting on the weather if—
“Would you stop!” Dean snaps. Several heads turn toward them. Ducking his head, Dean mutters a curse. He’s been listening to Cas’s bitching on the road trip for so long that it’s starting to knock around his head.
Cas frowns. “What’s wrong, Dean?”
“Nothing.” He pushes his shoulder into Cas’s. “Line’s movin’.”
He’s exhausted. Which makes him feel all sorts of guilty, because whatever exhaustion he feels, Cas must feel it tenfold. Cas’s grace fully depleted only a few weeks ago and the transition has been… less than pleasant for all involved. For Cas, it means feeling human like he never has before. He described the sensations—touch, smell, emotion, temperature, you name it—like a thousand itches that he can’t quite scratch. It makes him a grumpier bastard than usual.
Sam, as patient as he tried to be in the beginning, recently started losing his cool. Eileen had completely given up on the situation and wisely fucked off a few days into the whole process. When Claire called about the vamp nest she found in Nebraska, Dean couldn’t get in the car fast enough.
Cas insisted on coming. Sam insisted on staying. And, well—that was that.
Dean snags a glance at Cas next to him in the line. He’s squinting at the menu above the cashier. They found out he was near-sighted when he went full human, but he refuses to wear the prescription glasses Dean got him.
“Want me to read it to you?” Dean asks.
“No,” Cas snaps.
Grinding his back teeth, Dean huffs out a sigh. Which, of course, Cas hears. His frown deepens into a glare.
Dean’s gonna hear about it later in the car. Something along the lines of I’m so sorry my weaknesses are an inconvenience to you, Dean. Would you be more lenient with me if I was still an angel and could fight your battles for you? And no I won’t wear the glasses because I’m a big angry baby in a trenchcoat that doesn’t have any fucking clue how to manage his own emotions and—
“What can I get you?” the barista asks sunnily.
Dean slams his credit card on the counter. “Got any liquor?”
The barista’s smile goes a little crooked. “It’s eight in the morning.”
“Just—a coffee. Big one,” Dean adds as she keys it into the computer. He turns to Cas. “What do you want?”
Cas doesn’t answer; he’s looking off to the right, a frown on his face. But not his usual pissed-off frown. A curious one.
Dean elbows him. “Dude.”
Cas blinks, coming back to Earth, turning to the expectant barista. “Tea. Matcha, if you have it.”
Dean regrets letting Sam introduce him to that one. Taking his credit card back from the barista, their bill paid, he and Cas step off to the side. Dean finally glances at whatever the hell was so interesting to capture Cas’s attention.
Two women sit at a table, their eaten food just wrappers and crumby plates in front of them. Their hands are linked on the tabletop. Dean bristles; is Cas going to ask him why two women are holding hands? He can’t be that out of touch with humanity. But no; it’s something else. One woman is smiling, the other isn’t. Is that what caught Cas’s attention?
Dean sighs through his nose, shaking his head at himself. Trying to figure out what’s going on in Cas’s head lately is like trying to solve a Rubik's cube.
He feels a little tug at his jacket pocket. Dean paws Cas’s hand out of the way. “The hell are you doing?”
“I need your phone,” Cas says.
“What for?”
“I want to see how much longer until our destination.”
“You could just ask,” Dean shoots back.
Cas frowns. He goes for Dean’s pocket again.
“Jesus, fine,” Dean mutters, pulling the phone out of his pocket and unlocking it. He shoves it into Cas’s hands. (Cas had a phone, but he left it at a gas station a few hundred miles back. Dean’s not sure if he can fully blame Cas’s inattention to detail on being a human.)
Dean folds his arms over his chest and looks at the women again. They’ve stood up from the table, and the more upset-looking of the two has leaned against the other, who has her arms around her.
Cas is looking up at the women again, the Google maps app open on the screen forgotten.
“Large dark roast and matcha latte!” someone calls from the counter.
Dean turns away from the women and Cas, scooping up their drinks. “Wanna drink ‘em in the car or here?” he asks. He hopes that Cas will choose the latter, because the thought of hurtling down the highway in an enclosed space again is making Dean’s stomach turn.
Cas’s blue eyes turn to Dean. “Can we drink them outside?”
There’s a small bench next to the entrance door. They park themselves there and sip at their drinks as people filter in and out of the door. The two women come out a few minutes later and go into a blue Prius a few spots away from the Impala.
“Somethin’ suspicious about them?” Dean asks. When Cas gives him a curious look, Dean juts his chin toward the women. “You’re lookin’ at ‘em a lot.”
Cas shakes his head. “Nothing suspicious. Just… curiosity.”
Dean clears his throat. Nods. “Well, Cas, in our society there occasionally comes a time where people feel romantic feelings toward each other, and they decide to express that through—”
“Not that,” Cas snaps. He rolls his eyes at Dean’s cheeky grin. “I’m trying to understand human behavior more. Since I’m… unfortunately part of your species, now.”
“All right, Jane Goodall, so what’d you observe?”
Cas takes a sip of his grassy drink. “The blonde woman was upset. The brunette woman comforted her through touch. And it seemed to work.”
“Okay,” Dean says slowly, “and why is that weird?”
Cas turns his gaze to Dean. “You’re not comforted through touch. In fact, it makes you angrier.”
Dean snorts, shifting uncomfortably. “I mean. It’s not like I just want people—touchin’ me all the time.”
“Especially not when you’re upset,” Cas adds.
“Well, yeah. That’s a pretty common thing.”
Cas shakes his head. “Not necessarily. When Sam is upset, Eileen hugs him. And that’s received well.”
“Yeah, ‘cause they’re dating.”
“So touch is only welcomed when one is upset when they’re romantically involved?”
“Well.” Dean frowns at the steam rising from his coffee. “I mean, not always. Friends hug each other when one of them’s upset.”
Cas cants his head to one side. “So the two women could have been friends?”
“I’m betting not,” Dean snorts. “Friends don’t really hold hands. Not all the time.”
“But sometimes?”
“Sure. Sometimes.”
Cas nods, seeming to consider this. Dean takes a sip of coffee; then nearly spits it out again when a hand gently falls on top of his. He snatches his hand back and gapes at Cas’s innocent gaze. “What the hell, dude?”
“You said that friends sometimes hold hands.”
“I mean—you don’t just—” Dean huffs out a frustrated sigh. “Hugging is more in the friendship zone.”
A line appears between Cas’s eyebrows. “We only hug when one of us is about to die.”
And—Jesus. Okay. Dean has to blink hard a few times to find his center again from that one. “Um, yeah, I guess we do.”
“So if hugging is reserved only for mortal danger,” Cas continues, “and holding hands is too romantic—what else is there?”
Dean’s jaw works as he tries to figure out what to say. “I—you just—” He throws up a hand. “I don’t know, Cas! A pat on the shoulder? A friendly high five?”
Cas’s expression drops a bit. He frowns down at his tea, crestfallen.
Dean scrubs a hand down his face. Shit. The only thing worse than a grumpy ex-angel is a sad one.
He glances around them. No one’s paying attention. The bench is by the door, but people are too focused on getting inside to eat, or making a beeline to their cars. Besides, he’s sitting so close to Cas on the bench, it won’t even be noticeable.
Dean sighs. He holds out his hand, palm up. When Cas just stares at it, Dean moves it closer with a frustrated noise. That seems to make Cas get the picture; with a small smile, he takes Dean’s hand. He even laces their fingers together, which does not make Dean shiver and feel like his nerves are on fire.
“Only for a minute,” Dean says gruffly.
Cas nods. “Okay.”
And they sit there, hands linked between them on the bench, as they finish their drinks.
--
[And no, dear reader, it does not last a minute. In fact, it becomes Dean's new superpower—hugging, holding, or letting Cas glomp onto him whenever Cas is even in a remotely bad mood. Sam and Eileen take notice, but don't comment, because Cas is finally a relaxed and happy human.]
#destiel#destiel fic#was going to make this longer but dean and cas had other ideas lol#here's... a silly thing?

Look Alike
Sam and Dean Winchester & little sister!reader
Requested by Anonymous (x3)
Warnings: eating disorder, mentions of depression, attempted murder, I didn’t copy the episode exactly so probably some mistakes
Synopsis: an angel is going around killing anyone who is suffering—but what happens when it goes after you?
A/N: this one is kinda heavy guys, so if this is a topic that will trigger you PLEASE do not read it. And please remember—I think you’re beautiful, and always remember to eat something, even if it’s just a snack, even if it’s not “good for you”; eating something just because you like how it tastes is better than not eating anything at all. Love you guys!
Your fingers fumbled as they retrieved your picture of Mary Winchester, tattered and faded at the edges. You looked from the picture to your own reflection, your heart plummeting.
Your mother had this…this look about her; she was slender and beautiful, but also strong. Strong enough to be a hunter.
You looked at your own reflection again before ducking your head, tucking Mary’s photo back into your wallet.
“Hey kid.” Dean’s voice in your doorway startled you, and you whipped your head around. “Lunch is ready, let’s go…what are you doing in here?”
“Oh, no-nothing,” you muttered, your hands fidgeting. “I’m not that hungry right now, maybe I’ll get something later.”
“Did you eat breakfast?” Dean asked, his eyes narrowing.
“Um—actually, maybe I will eat now.” you sidestepped his question and his body as you headed for the kitchen. Dean dropped the subject, and you breathed a sigh of relief. You were going to have to be more careful about your eating habits—or lack thereof.
Of course Dean had made burgers again. You looked to Sam, hoping he’d made something else, but he was happily chowing down on a huge hamburger—apparently he didn’t mind them if they didn’t come from greasy diners.
You forced yourself not to huff; it was impossible to pretend to eat a burger, so you’d really have to eat this time.
“Here.” Dean pushed a plate at you, and you took it without protest.
You managed to choke down about two bites before Dean got a phone call. He spoke for a few minutes before hanging up and addressing his younger siblings.
“Cas has a case. I’m gonna go check it out.”
“A case?” You put down your burger. “I’ll go pack.”
“I can take this one alone,” Dean assured you.
“Don’t be stupid, I’m coming.” You started for the door, hoping he wouldn’t argue.
“You’re not gonna finish your food?” Sam asked.
“I had enough,” you assured him, and ran off before he could argue.
…
“So…he exploded.” Dean was staring around at the pink living room, a grimace on his face.
“Yeah. So completely that there’s not a bit of him left that’s bigger than a grain of sand,” a nearby officer said. Once the officer stepped away, Dean spoke to you. “I’m gonna go talk to Cas, see what he can tell me. You should stay at the motel, read up on some things.”
“Ok.” You shrugged. “Call me if you find anything out.”
“Deal.”
…
“Ephraim.”
“Gazuntite.”
“No, Dean. Ephraim was—is—an angel, his job on the battlefield was to end the suffering of dying angels.”
“End the suffering…let me guess, by blowing them up?” Dean said.
“Unfortunately, yes. It seems that he’s continuing his mission on earth.”
“Yeah, but these people aren’t dying, they just had a bad day.”
“Apparently Ephraim can’t tell the difference between emotional suffering and…”
“And dying?” Dean scoffed. “Cas, this is crazy. Everybody has bad days, this guy is gonna end up wiping out the world.”
“It’s more than just bad days,” Castiel argued. “These people were in serious emotional turmoil. But you’re right—you need to find him.”
“You’re not gonna help?” Dean challenged.
“Dean, I’m just human. There’s nothing I can do.”
…
You stared at the takeout container that Dean had got you before dropping you off. You couldn’t refuse, you knew he would start to notice if you refused too many meals, but you still didn’t want it.
Your stomach growled, and you cringed. Maybe part of you wanted it.
You pushed the container away, opting instead to don workout clothes—the motel had a gym. You’d never be able to be a hunter like Mary, you’d never be able to keep up with your brothers, if you didn’t workout more.
After an hour on the treadmill, you decided it was time to get back to work. You didn’t want to leave Dean in the lurch when it came to research, even if he hadn’t told you any more information. He got this way when he took you on hunts—determined to do it all alone, not clueing you in on anything.
It’s because you don’t look like a hunter yet.
You swallowed hard. You may not look like a hunter yet, but you would soon enough. You just had to skip a few more meals, go a few more days, and then—just maybe—you could be a good hunter. You would look like Mary did, strong and in shape, and your brothers would trust you more.
You slipped back into your room, going straight for your bag to get your picture of Mary. You held it up for the millionth time, looking from it to the mirror. Your heart sank—you weren’t Mary; maybe you never would be.
Your stomach growled again, and you huffed.
“No,” you told yourself. Your eyes flickered over to the takeout container. You snatched it off the table and threw it into the trash. “No!”
You couldn’t give up now—who cared if you were hungry? Sam and Dean gave up a lifetime of sleep to keep hunting, you could skip some meals to do the same. You had to.
You hadn’t even noticed that you were crying until a few tears dropped onto Mary’s smiling face in your hands.
“Mom,” you whimpered. “Why can’t I just be like you?”
“I can help you.” The voice behind you startled you, and you dropped Mary’s photo, whirling around and reaching for the gun at your waist and.
“Who are you?” You demanded, raising the weapon.
“That won’t do anything to me,” the man insisted. “And you don’t need it. I’m here to help you. You’re suffering, and I’m here to end it.”
“End it?” You took a step back. “You’re the guy we’re after. You’re the one who killed that man, and that teenager.”
“I ended their suffering,” the man continued, stepping towards you. “And I can end yours.”
“It’s not like that!” The gun was shaking in your hands. You didn’t bother to shoot, knowing it wouldn’t help. “I’m not dying!”
“You are,” he argued. “I can heal your hunger, but I cannot make you eat. But the end I will give you will be painless.”
“What are you?” You demanded, taking another step back. Your back hit the sharp edge of a splintered desk, halting your movements.
“I am an angel. My mission is to end suffering. Let me end yours.”
“An angel, huh.” You put your gun down on the desk as if in defeat. While Ephraim kept his attention on your face, you moved your hand down to the splintered edge of the table and slid it across, drawing blood. Dropping your hand out of sight behind the desk, you began to draw an angel banishing sigil.
Ephraim moved before you could blink, grabbing your wrist and twisting it away from the desk.
“Don’t fight it,” he said. “I can help you.” His free hand was suddenly above you, lowering towards your forehead like death’s scythe.
“Hey!” The grip on you was released at the sound of Dean’s voice in the doorway. “Leave her alone!” Dean had his angel blade out and pointed at Ephraim. “You don’t get to just kill people because they’re hurting.”
“That’s exactly what I was made for,” Ephraim argued. “You didn’t even know she was suffering, but I do! And I can fix it!”
“That’s now how you fix it!” Dean thundered. He lunged forward, stabbing at Ephraim with the blade, but the angel side stepped him and flung him into the wall with a single flick of his wrist. The angel blade clattered to the ground, and you once again found yourself face-to-face with the murderous angel.
“Please,” you pleaded. “Look, I know you think you’re doing good. But humans—they hurt sometimes. But we can do better—I can do better—we’re all just doing the best we can.”
“If this is the best that you can do.” Ephraim shook his head. “Then this is what you need.” He stretched out his hand, and your breath caught in your throat.
You jumped back in surprise when Ephraim’s eyes glowed brightly, his jaw hanging open before he slumped to the ground. Dean stood behind him, a bloody angel blade gripped in his hand.
“That’s not what she needs,” he growled almost to himself. Then his eyes were on you. “Are you ok?”
You nodded shakily, taking a deep breath.
“Ok.” Dean dropped the angel blade. “Now what was that about? Why did he think—“
“I-I don’t know.” You couldn’t meet Dean’s eyes.
“Well what—“ Dean’s voice caught, and you looked up to see him staring at the corner of the room. You followed his gaze, and your stomach dropped. He was staring at the tiny garbage can in the corner, the open and full takeout container fully visible.
“Kid.” Dean swallowed. “When was the last time you ate? And no, that one bite of your burger didn’t count.” Dean’s eyes were on you now, and he petrified you to the spot with his gaze. “I mean when was the last time you really ate?”
“I—um…” your lip quivered and your hands began to fidget. “I’m sorry, Dean.”
“Ok, hey.” Dean pulled you into his arms when you started to cry. “I’ve got you kid.” He pulled away, brushing your tears. “Why are you doing this kid?”
“I’m sorry,” you whimpered, wiping at your face. “Dean—“ your voice caught and you choked on a sob.
“Ok, ok,” Dean soothed. “It’s ok, let’s…let’s go back home, ok? We can talk about it later. Go and wait in the car, I’ll bring the stuff.”
You went to the car without argument, and after you left Dean called Sam.
“Hey,” Dean huffed while he gathered the guns and clothes and tossed them in his bag. “Do you remember the last time you saw Y/N eat? Like, like a full meal.”
“Um…” Sam’s voice came out surprised and hesitant. “No.” Realization hit him. “No, I don’t. Dean, what’s going on?”
“I don’t think she’s eating. Ephraim…Ephraim tried to kill her.”
“I thought you said he only killed people who were…” Sam swallowed. “Who were really broken up, right?”
“Yeah.” Dean stopped packing long enough to clench and unclench his fist. “Yeah. She’s suffering, Sam, and we didn’t even know it. She stopped eating and we didn’t see.”
“Dean…” Dean heard Sam’s deep breath through the phone. “I’m…I’m gonna do some research while you get here. Try and talk to her on the ride home, ok? Maybe…we’ve gotta help her, Dean.”
“I know. We’ll be back in a couple hours.” Dean hung up, taking a deep breath. “Ok,” he said to himself, zipping up his bag and slinging it over his shoulder. He stopped in his tracks when he saw a picture in the middle of the floor. He stooped to pick it up—it was Mary, when she wasn’t much older than you. Dean tucked it into his back pocket. “Ok.”
…
“Hey kid,” Dean greeted as he tossed his bag in the back. Your knees were pulled up to your chest, and you didn’t acknowledge him.
Dean let silence reign as he started up the Impala and headed down the road—he couldn’t force you to talk.
“I just wanted to look like her,” you said suddenly, your head resting against your knees.
Dean turned his head to look at you. “What?”
“Mom. I don’t look like her. She was such a good hunter, and I just wanted to be like that.”
“Kiddo—“ Dean’s voice caught. “Kid, you don’t have to look like her to be a good hunter.”
“But I can’t keep up with you.” You sniffled. “I thought if I looked like her…I could keep up with you.”
“When we were your age, we couldn’t have kept up with us,” Dean argued. “Besides, this isn’t…you don’t become a better hunter by starving yourself, kid.”
Dean watched out of the corner of his eye as your fingers clenched on your jeans, bunching up the fabric before you let it go. When you spoke, your voice was barely above a whisper.
“I don’t know how to stop.”
Dean forced himself to breathe through the pain, taking a moment before offering you a strong smile.
“That’s what we’re here for, kid. Me and Sammy are gonna help you.”
…
“Hey.” Sam’s hug when you stepped into the bunker was surprising and long. You heard Dean’s huff from behind you, but Sam ignored him.
“Hi.” Your greeting was muffled against Sam’s jacket, and he finally pulled away.
“Ok, so um, I’ve been doing some research, so I’ll show you what I got.” Sam reached behind him, picking up printouts from the internet. “I have a list of foods that are supposed to help, and um, I also made up a schedule—that’s supposed to make it easier—and if there’s any specific food you want me to pick up when I go out you can tell me. Or hey, you can just come with me and pick stuff out and—“
“Hey, dude,” Dean cut in with another huff. “I told you not to freak her out about this.”
“I’m not freaking her out!” Sam’s eyes went back to you. “Wait, am I freaking you out?”
“Um…” you picked at your hands. “It…it’s a lot…”
“We’ll start out small,” Dean insisted. “You want some toast?”
“Bread is good,” Sam piped up, holding up one of the research pages.
“Toast sounds good.” Your lips twitched up even as your eyes filled with tears.
“Hey, ok.” Dean’s arms were around you suddenly. “You got this, ok? We’re right here to help you.”
“Ok,” you sniffled.
Dean pulled away. “Ok. Now let’s get you something to eat, and then Sam can freak you out about everything he read.”
Sam opened his mouth, then closed it.
“I think I can do that,” you sniffled.
“I know you can.” Dean grinned. “Oh, hey—“ Dean reached into his back pocket and pulled out your picture of Mary. “This is yours.” You took it with a shaky hand, and when you looked back up Dean was bending down to stare into your eyes. “Hey. You’re just as pretty as mom. And she…she would want you to take care of yourself, ok? And so would dad. And so do we. Kapeesh?”
You threw your arms around Dean.
“Kapeesh,” you told him.
“Ok.” Dean pulled away, reaching up and brushing a stray tear off your face. “Now let’s go get that toast.”

So—Dean is refusing to torture Alistair in the beginning of "On The Head Of A Pin", right? And Uriel is telling him he has to. And you’d think that when Dean asks to speak to Cas alone, it’d be in an effort to bargain or plead (something Uriel isn’t amenable to at all and never has been) or to let Cas give him a more candid and convincing argument on how this is the right thing.
But when Dean gets Cas alone, he just wants to know why Uriel is in charge of Cas now, and then he wants to tell Cas torturing Alistair is going to bring something horrifying out of Dean. Cas doesn’t do any convincing at all. He doesn’t make any further argument for why Dean has to do this—he doesn’t tell Dean it’s for the greater good. Hell—it seems like Cas got demoted because he balked at asking Dean to do this to begin with. Cas doesn’t want Dean to do this and doesn’t try to convince him to! But the scene cuts and Dean is pushing his torture-set-on-wheels into the room where Alistair is being kept! So why? How does that interaction result in Dean suddenly deciding to do something he was refusing to do moments before???
I think it’s because Cas showed Dean sympathy.
The episode opens with Dean trying to tell Sam he’s hurting. He’s grieving Pam (they’re driving from her funeral), he feels like her death is his fault, he feels like they aren’t making any progress on saving the world—they’re just fuck ups who are going to fail.
DEAN I'm tired of burying friends, Sam. SAM Look, we catch a fresh trail— DEAN And we follow it, I know. Like I said, I'm just—I'm just getting tired. SAM Well, get angry!
No sympathy from Sam. Sam wants Dean to nut up—and that's what Sam said last episode too, and it's what he said the episode before that too while under the Siren's spell.
They get into the motel and Uriel and Cas are standing there waiting for them when Dean just wanted to sleep after an awful day, and Uriel says they're needed. Dean says he just got back from needed, and Uriel tells him to mind his tone. Then of course,
CASTIEL Dean, we know this is difficult to understand. URIEL And we— URIEL gives CASTIEL a significant look. URIEL —don't care.
So no one is showing Dean any sympathy, right? Everyone is telling him to shut up and do what needs to be done—except Cas. Cas is sympathizing with him. And when Dean gets Cas alone?
DEAN You ask me to open that door and walk through it, you will not like what walks back out. CASTIEL For what it's worth, I would give anything not to have you do this.
And that's all it takes. That's literally all it takes—is just a single shred of sympathy—someone saying that they care that Dean is in pain—that they care what this will do to him and don't wish this on him. Just someone saying that they understand and that they care is enough and Dean agrees.
Don't ever let anyone tell you Dean "needs tough love".

in the secret good s16 of supernatural tfw 2.0 would go to a grocery store
NOT a conveniance store
a grocery store
-sam would get jack into the cart (jack just teleports in) and then pushes him down the aisles super fast. he loved doing it with dean as a kid and now he gets to do it with jack. they nearly run over dean at one point and dean tells them off for it, calling them a public nuisance ("like you're one to talk" "shut UP sam") and as revenge they wait until dean and cas are standing right next to each other and run at dean like they're jousting. dean falls trying not to get run over, into cas who is ofc an Angelic Tank and doesn't even flinch when he catches dean. cue the most flustered man in existence in front of the knock-off cereal brands bc my god he never learned to emotionally regulate.
-you would think sam and dean would be the ones arguing about healthy vs tasty food. wrong. sam knows his brother is a stubborn ass and just sneaks healthy food into the cart. (he has a system. he also has a farmer's market he runs off to once in a while.) dean and CAS on the other hand are bickering in every. single. aisle about every. single. item. cas is trying to make sure heart disease doesn't kill the man who refused to kill God. dean is trying to exercise his new found free will. this is flirting for them.
-jack finds an employee restocking an aisle and strikes up a conversation with them. this of course leads to him helping restock a whole section of the aisle because "of course i helped them! i wasn't doing anything else!" eventually they end up seated on the floor criss cross applesauce talking about the DEEPEST MOST RANDOM SHIT. anyways jack likes them so much they win the lottery the next day.
-cas wanders into the freezers because it's "refreshing." dean only realizes this when he pulls a a carton of milk out of the fridge and sees cas staring back at him. he ALMOST pulls out his gun.
-obligatory "sam gets hit on by an older woman" thing but he is ENGAGED and flashes his engagement ring (eileen proposed to him because fuck gender roles because i said so. he cried. dean will deny it but he cried when eileen asked him for sam's hand. gd now i wanna write that. fuck.) anyways this does not stop the older woman and sam sighs. cas rescues him.
-cas accidentally leaves the store with his coat loaded with random stuff. dean sighs and concludes that stealing from a chain grocery store is not the worst thing they've ever done.
-cas sees that the last thing of an item dean wanted sitting in an unattended cart and...takes it out. and gets accosted by a person because yeah that's their cart but cas sacrificed heaven and his life and his wings for humanity (read: singular human but still) and thinks he can have the last jar of strawberry jam. dean hears them from 2 aisles over and sighs.
okay now. if this gets to 100 notes ill write+post a full fic to ao3

like i'm sorry but show me a time sam spends genuine quality time with jack? cas beyond like connect four? dean takes him fishing. teaching him how to drive. gives him the perfect day when everyone else decided against jack's own wishes that he should stay put. spends countless hours together off camera showing him movies and giving him his pop culture education. half the time cas is off on some mission, but dean is there. and jack looks up to him and values his honesty. they both have the same views on self-sacrifice. both decide to turn themselves into bombs for the greater good. they get each other. and i will just never understand how people watch this show without seeing how good of a bond dean and jack actually have. people get so blinded by their rocky start, which jack is actually more hurt by how sam initially treats him--seeing him as a tool to be used to get mary back--than dean's frostiness. and then the soulless stuff getting so misinterpreted and blown out of proportion. jack WAS a threat! to the world! and dean was not the only one who agreed he need to be stopped / contained until they could figure out how to save jack / get his soul back. the whole POINT of "jack in the box" is that they don't want to kill him, they want to be able to save him, but he's going around killing innocent people and he's the most powerful being in the universe after chuck and amara. he IS the supernatural threat to the world at that moment and needs to be contained. and sam was on-board with containment. cas even suggested the cage. rowena was afraid of soulless jack. sam asked rowena to figure out how to stop / kill him. dean didn't get on board with the idea to "kill" jack until chuck started putting that in their heads, which was exactly what chuck wanted, it was his plan, his storyline. he was manipulating the outcome. but then dean crucially thwarts his plan and refuses to go through with it. but people refuse to remember that, and instead just focus on the fact that dean picked up the gun in the first place. disregarding the context that brought him there. also a few bad moments don't negate all the good either. especially when you consider the context, literal god manipulating the situation, god bringing these characters to their breaking point again and again. that context does matter and influences the actions characters make.
#dean and jack#i love their dynamic. it's so much more interesting and nuanced than so many ppl make it out to be#vic.txt

Title: Did I save you? ('Cause I know you saved me too)
Author: shroomiethedoomie
Artist: szlez
Rating: Teen
Pairings: Castiel/Dean Winchester, background Sam Winchester/Eileen Leahy
Length: 25000
Warnings: No major archive warnings apply. Depictions of mental health struggles.
Tags: Angst with a Happy Ending, Claire Novak, Canon divergent from 15.18, appearances from Jack Rowena and Crowley, Dean and Cas POVs
Posting Date: October 15, 2024
Summary: When Cas calls on his empty deal, Dean grabs him and won't let go. The Empty takes them both. A few weeks later- after Chuck has been defeated- they return, but while the world's problems may be solved, their own are still waiting for them. And the Empty may have left more of a mark than they realize.
Excerpt: When Dean comes to, the first thing he notices is there's a sense of... wrongness to it. The disconcerting, misaligned feeling he always gets when he switches between realms, like his soul is adapting to the environment on a metaphysical level. It's the same kind of feeling, whether it's Hell or Heaven or Purgatory, whether he's coming or going. The funny thing, though, is there's a kind of... peace beneath it all. There's a panic in his body- in the physical- adrenaline and fear chugging through his veins, his heart beating like a war drum, but in the center of him, deep down in his very soul there's a warmth. A calmness, like he somehow knows, despite his terror, that's he's safe. The next thing he notices, then, is that he's falling, and a second later that he's hitting the ground. It smacks hard against his side- some sort of smooth, flat rock, though he's not going to try to guess what kind until he at least figures out what realm he's in- but there's something soft and warm wrapped around the front of his body, offshoots of it separating his waist from the rock, poking between his legs, going into his shoulder. The sound seems to begin all at once, scuffling and crackling and chanting. A second later, pain- something he'd been blissfully free from just moments before. It feels like he's hit the ground, sure, but there's more than that, layers of agony so deep and so sudden he cries out. His voice only starts halfway through the scream. Finally, light floods his vision; he's suddenly aware his eyes have been open the entire time, unseeing. It's hazy, but he recognizes it regardless- it's the bunker's dungeon. And then he remembers. \*\*Before\*\* "Why does this sound like a goodbye?" It's his voice, but it doesn't feel like it's coming from him. He's floating, somewhere, drifting away from his body. He's watching the scene before him play out, as if he's not a part of it. He's turned away, left it behind, but it still plays out in front of him, unchanged, unaffected. The dread sits heavy, an immutable fact of the universe, yet distant as a dream. "Because it is," Cas says. And then, "I love you." "Don't do this, Cas." The room presses in on him, feeling too small, even before the goo from the Empty begins to drip through the walls, before the door gives way to Billie. Cas' hand has barely touched his shoulder when his body, his whole being, just snaps, moving all at once. He wraps himself around Cas, refuses to let go. Cas tries to push him away, but he doesn't relent, not sure he could if he wanted to. He doesn't want to.

You opened your eyes to see a bland white ceiling. It didn't take you long to guess where you were. The IV in one arm and heart rate monitor quickly confirmed your guess. You pushed yourself up in your bed and then heard a familiar and soothing voice nearby.
"I'm so glad you're awake." The voice belonged to Cas and when you turned to look at him he had a teary smile on his face, but his brow was still creased with worry.
"Cas," you breathed, smiling back and relaxing some, now that you knew he was nearby.
"How are you feeling?" he asked, getting up and coming over to stand at the side of your bed.
"Okay, I guess. All things considered..."
He looked grim for a moment, his mouth turning down in a regretful frown. "I'm sorry I couldn't—I wish I could just—"
"I know. It's okay," you said, reassuring him. Without his grace, you knew how helpless he felt. To sit by when you were hurt so seriously, at first not even knowing if you'd pull through, had been agony for the angel. Glancing around, looking for signs of Sam and Dean, you finally noticed the bouquets of flowers and cards that seemed littered across every surface. "...where'd this all come from?" you asked with surprise.
"Well... you have admirers, apparently."
You noted that he didn't seem particularly happy about it.
"Obviously we tried to keep everything that happened a complete secret. So, naturally it leaked out into the hunting community," Cas explained. "These all started showing up the day after you arrived here." He fiddled with a stray leaf that had dropped off the nearest bouquet.
You quirked an eyebrow up at the somewhat sour expression on his face. "Cas..." He looked over at you again, his blue eyes as bright as ever. "Do you really think I'm suddenly going to fall for some random hunter because they sent me a bunch of flowers or a cheesy 'get well' card?"
He looked a little stunned. The angel tended to forget that you were far better at reading him than most.
"You're the one who was sitting here at my bedside, as I'm sure you have been this whole time," you said, giving him a fond smile. "If you still haven't figured it out, I only have eyes for you. I guess something about almost dying makes me want to tell you very clearly."
Cas gulped. A weight seemed to lift off him.
You shifted yourself over carefully to make a little room on the edge of your bed. "Come sit up here with me. Please?"
He would never refuse such a request, especially with you still looking small in the hospital bed and a little pale. All he wanted was to be by your side and make sure you felt safe and cared for.
Prompt: "...where did all this come from?" / "You have admirers, apparently."

I Hate Cowboy Movies
Warnings - nsfw 18+ - smut - not much plot/no use of y/n - sub!sam - public sex - unprotected sex (I do not encourage)
Sam Winchester x fem!reader , Dean Winchester , Castiel
Word Count - 880
Summary - It's movie night in the bunker but unfortunatley it's Dean's turn to pick. Is there some way you and Sam can make this boring night a little more fun?
The room around you was filled with darkness, except for that which came from the television screen planted in front of the couch and chairs. Dean and Cas sat on the sofa facing the TV, both enthralled in the film Dean had picked out for movie night, well more so Dean than Cas. But Cas was always willing to watch anything Dean liked. You were sat on top of Sam's lap, in a big brown plush chair near the side of the room. There were enough seats for all of you, but you both preferred sharing. Your arm was wrapped around his shoulder, and his around your waist. You leaned in to whisper, "I hate cowboy movies". He let out a little laugh, "Yeah me too, but it was Dean's night to choose, its only fair. I mean you did make us watch 'What a Girl Wants' last week". You were ready to fight him on that one. "Oh shut up, you loved it, I know you did" you teased. He rolled his eyes and kissed your cheek lightly before returning his attention to the movie.
You were bored out of your mind, you couldn't leave though, that was a very important rule of movie night in the bunker. Along with no healthy food, and no asking questions every 10 seconds. A horribly dirty thought popped into your head as you sat on your boyfriend's lap, and you tried to shake it away, knowing that it was a terrible idea. Terrible but perfect. You had a blanket over both of your laps, and you were going to take advantage of the fabric concealing your lower halves. Shifting your hands around under the blanket, you reached for Sam's belt and began to fiddle it loose. You felt a tight squeeze on your shoulder which prompted you to look up and meet Sam's panicked face. You smirked devilishly at him and he looked over to the couch where the two men hadn't taken their eyes off the screen in quite a while, and then back at you. You tilted your head and gave him a puppy dog look; a taste of his own medicine. He silently scoffed with a smile on his face while refusing to make eye contact. His grasp on you had melted, from squeeze to a soft pet. He ran two fingers up and down your arm, letting you know that he was up for whatever you had planned.
Unzipping his jeans, you felt him harden beneath you. Just the thought of his dick getting hard because of you was enough to make you wet. He began to help out by pulling his pants and boxers down just enough for his hard member to spring free. Sliding your hand up your thigh, you lowered your lace panties and thought about what you could get away with. You began to palm his cock leading him to believe he was getting special treatment, only to realize you were simply toying with him. He let out a small grunt as your hand disappeared from his body. Adjusting your position inconspicuously, you planted yourself right on top of him. You both twitched as he entered you, but were able to maintain the quietness of the room. His free hand made his way to your sopping entrance, inserting two fingers and tracing your walls, before removing them as he retreated to your clit to rub soft circles just a few times before you grabbed his hand and gestured with your eyes to stop. Brows furrowing, he tilted his head to ask why. You motioned your head towards the TV, and he realized what you had been up to. As much as you did want to fuck him right there, you knew it would be way too obvious, you could never be quiet with Sam. But you wanted to have a bit of fun. You could see he was getting a bit frustrated, not being able to obtain pleasure in any way, so you whispered to him again, "It's torture for me too, baby, wait until the movie's done, then you can fuck me all you want". As the words left your mouth you could feel him stiffen inside you, you were just making things worse. He didn't mind though, he loved it when you did stuff like this, it turned him on. Continuing to trace your arm, he turned his focus back to the movie. There were only about 25 minutes left, and every 5, you shifted just a teeny bit, making him squirm beneath you. When the end credits finally rolled, Dean clapped loudly, startling everyone. You all looked at him like he was crazy, "What??" he spilled out. "It's my favourite movie, you loved it, just admit it". You couldn't help but laugh, which sent waves through both of your bodies.
"Whatever, I'm going to bed," he yelled out as he left the room.
"I have some research I meant to do earlier, goodnight," Castiel said flatly as he headed to the library.
"Hm, looks like it's just the two of us, here in the dark, whatever will we do?" you teased Sam
"I hate cowboy movies" he spoke desperately before combining his lips with yours in a passionate kiss.

Hi, I know you guys only searching for destiel fics but I'm just wondering if you guys also have any recommendations for dean acting like parent ish fic?
Hey! Here's some we could think of.
Fics where Dean doesn't consider himself a parent at first but ends up becoming one:
Kriah by ioascc
Dean can do this. He can. He can raise Jack Kline, Lucifer’s baby. No, not Lucifer’s… Cas’ kid. Their kid. With his mother gone, and Castiel dead, Dean finds himself hanging on by a thread. Castiel has died so many times on him, Dean is half-convinced himself that Cas will return to him. Dean evades the pain of the truth, carrying on in false hope until his soul renders into a million pieces. He learns quickly that taking care of a newborn is not for the faint of heart, sleep-deprivation, grief, and feedings rule most of the early days. During this time, Dean is forced to build a new life for himself. With a new name and identity change, Dean becomes a Dad. Something Castiel would be proud of. Dean cooks, he cleans, he reads, he sings his ABCs and 123s, and ultimately Dean does his best for Jack. It’s not until Jack grows into a small child that Dean feels like he can breathe again. The grief no longer suffocates him. His new life has meaning. He sees family and he allows himself to miss Castiel. To mourn him, to love him in death. And when Jack goes to school, Dean is once again reunited with friends and enemies from his past.
let's take a drive by sobsicles
Dean takes a really, really long drive to kick fear in the ass. It might just be the best thing he ever decides to do.
right in the palm of your hand by LoversAntiquities
Five years after Castiel's death, Dean has built a life in Murphy, North Carolina. A decent life, with a house he built with his own hands, and Jack, now five years old and beginning kindergarten in the fall. Only, after a string of failed relationships and sleepless nights staring at the urn on his windowsill, he makes an unwilling decision--to bury Castiel for good. Only, the night he and Jack bury Castiel's ashes, the unthinkable happens--Castiel rises from the dead, wounded from his time in the Empty, and with his resurrection comes questions Dean never thought he would need answered. Namely, how long will Castiel stay with him--and will the Empty come back for him, once and for all?
The Other Baby by DoctorProfessorSong
This is a canon-adjacent series of one shots in a world where Jack is reset as a baby and being raised by TFW. I am going to pick and choose canon at will and may not even be consistent between the stories. Seriously, it's just a bunch of fluff and angst surrounding babies and toddlers.
You Belong Among The Wildflowers by ImYourHoneyBee
Cas is gone and Dean doesn't know how to deal. Sunk deep into the worst depression he's ever been through Dean only pulls himself together when Jack comes to visit, intent on repairing his relationship with Castiel's son. Eventually, as a result of an offhanded comment Sam makes, Dean begins to dream of a better future and becomes determined to rescue Castiel from the Empty. It's a rough go, but he's successful and Cas is back. Fed nightmares during his time in the darkness of an angel's afterlife, Castiel doesn't believe that Dean is real. Refusing to speak or to come out of the literal closet, will Cas let Dean persuade him that he really is saved?
2. Dean helping with Cas' kids
A Little Grace by tricia_16
Castiel is well aware that a handsome, surprisingly gentle alpha like Dean was way out of his league even before he made the decision to become a single parent. Dean's been kicking himself for blowing his shot with Cas before he could even ask for it, and now Cas is happily taken (and adorably pregnant) by an alpha who doesn't deserve him. Neither one of them could have guessed that Castiel's baby would be what brings them together, but it turns out that a little Grace goes a long way.
Let Me Come Home by prosopopeya
It would be very inconvenient for Castiel to get a crush on Claire's foster parent.
Swan Upon Leda by kelsstiel
Pediatric Surgery Fellow Dean Winchester meets baby Jack Kline and neuropsychologist Castiel Novak his first week on the job. Dean’s been accused a time or two of caring a little too much in the past and it’s hard not to care about the neurotic adoptive father and his medically needy preemie. After a series of run-ins between the pair, Dean and Cas develop a friendship that everyone else around them suspect more from immediately, though it takes them a little longer to get the memo. When Dean struggles with a particularly devastating patient loss, their mutual understanding of loss and love bring them closer in a way that neither of them could have expected.
Start of Something Good by tricia_16
Dean Winchester is introduced to his new neighbor, Castiel, and his daughter, Claire, in an unexpected way. When an unlikely connection forms between Dean and Claire it also helps to push Castiel and Dean closer together. But Castiel has been hurt badly in the past and it's up to Dean to prove to Castiel that he can be trusted with both his daughter and his heart, even when outside sources try to make Castiel believe differently…
3. Dean acting like Sam's parent even though they're siblings:
Have Love, Will Travel by squeemonster
Castiel Novak is a reclusive writer with a childhood so tragic it's left him terrified to leave his home—until his overbearing brother, Gabriel, drags him out for a night on the town full of booze and strip clubs, and he encounters Dean Winchester, a mesmerizing and mysterious stripper with secrets of his own. Both men find themselves inexplicably drawn to each other, and soon Dean's private dances for Castiel become much more, as both men confess their troubles and find solace in each other's company. But neither can seem to find the courage to take their relationship further than the intimacy of the club's VIP Room—and just when Dean's own brother gives him the excuse he needs to finally admit his feelings, Dean discovers something that brings it all crumbling down. Will they find a way past their demons and their trust issues, and back to each other?
I Wanna Get Outside (Of Me) by emwebb17
Dean is a novice in the dom/sub world asked by his employer as a desperate last resort to be a sub for his recluse of a brother, Castiel. Castiel is a diagnosed OCD suffering from PTSD and agoraphobia, mysophobia, and dystychiphobia. Needless to say—he’s a mess who hasn’t stepped out of his home in literally seven years. The only times Gabriel can see traces of the way his brother used to be is when he feels in control—specifically when he has control over a sub. However, due to his idiosyncrasies and paranoia, keeping a sub around has been impossible. Enter Dean, who’s not a very traditional submissive, to try his hand at subbing for the hermit.
Proof of Love by VioletHaze
Working two jobs and doing his best to pretend his little brother wasn’t leaving for Stanford in a few months, Dean let his friend Benny talk him into a much needed night out. What started out as a fun evening at the bar ended with Dean drunk and face-to-face with a couple of cops outside a bakery. When the bakery owner gave him the chance to come back the next day and deal with his mess instead of going to jail, Dean knew he’d been given an opportunity he couldn’t squander. If only the blue-eyed guy didn’t seem to hate Dean…
White-Collar Contract by CBFirestarter, TrenchcoatBaby
Caught between the lesser of two evils, omega Dean Winchester is thrown into the orbit of Castiel Novak—a gorgeous, older, and incredibly wealthy businessman…and perhaps the only alpha who wants him for his brains, not his body. Castiel has no interest in bending Dean over the nearest surface and fucking his brains out, which is a first. Not that Dean cares about the alpha’s lack of interest. Nope. Uh-uh. He couldn’t care less.

Jack thinking of sam + cas as his dads but he thinks of sam + dean as married cuz like he watches movies and sees romantic relationships in public so he’s like “oh!! Sam and Dean are like that they must be in love” and he dosent really know that incest isn’t socially okay cuz like no one told him (don’t mean this in a “oh jacks just a baby he dosent know anything” way, cuz i hate when he’s infanlized BUT i do think it’s realistic to think there’s gap in his knowledge of culture + societal norms, esp since he’s also only around sam dean and cas all the time and i love them but they are NOT poster boys for Normal People Who Act Normal TM okay rant over)
So Jack one day realizes sam and Dean don’t wear wedding rings but like they’re married! Married people wear rings! So he asks sam if he wears his wedding ring on a necklace around his neck cuz Jack knows sam has sorta large hands so maybe not a lot of rings fit him?
And Sam short circuits and is like “??wut”
And Jack is like “u and dean don’t wear wedding rings. I thought married ppl do that”
And sam with his little repressed incest crush is like “no!! Whaaaaatttt.. that’s so crazy! Dean and I are not married!! Why would u think that!!” Cuz he dosent want to give any reason for anyone to know he likes dean
And Jack is like “oh.”
Later he talks to cas abt it and he’s like “I think sam is mad at me:(“ and cas is like “he’s not he just gets upset when someone thinks him and dean are together” and Jack is like “cuz they’re brothers?” and cas sighs and is like “no they are so in love with eachother and both react that way because they do not want the other to know”
And Jack is like “??wut” and cas has the most done face and is like “they have been like this since I have known them. They refuse to communicate. I am tired.”
Maybe cue Jack + cas shenanigans where they try to subtly push Sam and Dean together and send them on dates by being like “let’s go out!” and then backing out last minute and being like “oh something came up we can’t go:( but you guys should go anyways! Have fun at this fancy dinner place^_^ and there’s a nice walk along the river you guys could take after” or back out of movie night and have them watch a romcom together
And they’re like out and Jack is like “yk Sam i think Dean is cold,, im worried he’ll get sick:(“ and ofc Dean is not cold cuz he wears a shit ton of layers but Sam is like “oh no! I don’t want him to be cold :(“ and gives him his jacket
cas takes the extra blankets and hides them and sam is like “where are the blankets?? There’s only one:(“ and cas is like “oh? Must be in the wash” and sam is like “oh that sucks dean and i like having blankets when we watch tv guess we gotta cancel movie night” and cas is like “noooo yall should just share a blanket^_^” and sam is like “…okay”
And Jack and cas peak around the corner and see sam and Dean cuddling under the same blanket and they’re watching How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and Jack and cas are like “this is the night!!” But then suddenly sam gets up like he’s been burned halfway through the movie and squeaks out that he has to go to the bathroom and Dean is like “oh :(“
and dean couldn’t see it from his angle and cas rlly hopes Jack didn’t notice, but Cas could clearly see the hard-on sam was sporting in his sweats as he speed walked to the bathroom. And if the sounds he heard from the bathroom and 10 mins sam spent in there plus the shower he took is anything to go by sam def was jacking it.
Cas never drinks but he’s def really close to becoming an alcoholic. He wants his friends to be happy! They’d be happy if they’re together! Why can’t they communicate!
and Sam and Dean don’t ever get together in their lifetime but post canon cas and Jack visit sam and Dean in their heaven (au where cas isn’t taken by the empty cuz FUCK that) and they walk into their house and sam and Dean are fucking on the couch.
And Jack like covers his eyes and cas lets out a genuine laugh and sam and Dean let out a yelp and try to cover themselves with a throw blanket.
later after sam and Dean have made themselves decent they’re having an awkward dinner (to sam and Dean, Jack and cas r just happy they worked it out even tho they didn’t enjoy walking in on them)
And Sam’s voice is thick when he asks if cas and Jack hate them for this and cas and Jack r like “what?? Ofc not!!”
And dean is like “it’s okay if u are we get it”
And cas and Jack share a look and are like “we’ve known you guys were in love for a while”
And Sam and Dean r like “Whaaattt??”
And Jack is like “u guys aren’t subtle.”
And Cas is like “I am happy you two could finally commemorate your bond :)”
and then they have desert and are all happy and right before Jack is getting ready to leave he notices the matching gold rings sam and Dean are wearing.

The Demon and Me pt 3
Master List
Characters: Demon Dean x Plus Size Reader
Warnings: Language, angst, fluff
A/N: This chapter explores the reader’s thoughts on being pregnant and what that means for her. Sam is supportive and encourages her to think things through. Cas tells her to tell Dean about the baby. The reader is unsure if that will do any good.
This chapter doesn’t follow the Supernatural story exactly. I took some liberties. I do not own the rights to any of these characters or any part that aligns with Supernatural.
Written and edited fast, please overlook any errors. All work is my own, don’t take it. Feel free to like and reblog.
Minors DNI 18+
I laid in bed that night thinking about what I was going to do. My car was fixed, but Sam refused to leave my side. I wanted to still go to my sister’s house, but with Sam back and the recent revelation of my pregnancy I also wanted to go home.
Waking up in the middle of the night I felt a wave of nausea hit me. At least now I know why I kept getting sick. After I was finished in the bathroom I made my way to the small refrigerator in the room. I glanced over at Sam who was sleeping soundly in the bed next to mine. I grabbed a bottle of water and a sleeve of crackers. I grabbed my phone and went outside for some fresh air.
As I sat in the chair next to the door I heard the unmistakable sound of wings. I looked up and saw Cass. He stepped closer to me. “Hello,Y/N.” “Hey Cass. You were right, I’m pregnant.” “I already knew you were. I could smell.” Before he could finish the sentence you cut him off, “Yes Cass, I know. You could smell it and you knew because of mine and Dean’s destiny.” “Yes, exactly.” Cass said.
“Cass, how can I be sure he will come back to us? I don’t want to do this by myself, I can’t do this by myself.”
“Y/N, you have to believe Dean’s love for you will bring him back.” I sat in the chair just looking at Cass. I’m glad he was so confident, but my faith and confidence was wavering.
I pulled out my phone and sent my sister a text to let her know I was going back home. I decided not to tell her about the pregnancy yet, because honestly I was still trying to come to terms with it.
“Y/N, would you like me to tell you what you’re having?” “What? You know what the baby is, Cass?” “Yes, I do.”
I took a deep breath. Did I want to know? “Cass, I’m not ready to know yet. Can you at least just tell me if the baby is healthy?”
Cass stepped closer and put his hand on my shoulder, “Yes. The baby is healthy and growing stronger every day. You’re almost 3 months pregnant.”
I touched my belly and my heart sped up. I need Dean here. I can’t do this without him. “What do I need to do to get him back, Cass?” “We need to cure him. It won’t be easy, but I know we can do it.”
“He has to want to be cured in order for it to work. We have to find him first.” Tears fell from my eyes. “Then he’s never coming home. Being a demon frees him of all the guilt he’s felt over the years.” I touched my belly and cried harder, “He’s never coming home.”
I got up and went back into the room. Sam was awake by now and he saw I had been crying. He walked over and pulled me into a bear hug. “Shh, it’s okay. We will get him back.”
“Sammy, let’s just go home. There isn’t any sense in trying to find him. Cass said in order for him to be cured he has to want it. I just want to go home and figure out how to raise this baby alone.”
A few hours later I was sitting on my bed in the bunker. This room, this bed, where Dean and I shared so much was now a painful reminder of what I’ve lost. I laid down on Dean’s side of the bed and cried. I had never felt so alone in my life. The love of my life, my soulmate was gone and I was left carrying our child. The child we both wanted together. Now Dean was a demon, and I was heartbroken.
Over the next few months my belly continued to grow, showing evidence of the little life growing inside. Sam and Eileen were supportive, Cass would come by and check on us. I hadn’t heard from Dean since that night in the motel.
Sam and Eileen were away on a hunt, leaving me alone. I was now 7 months pregnant, and it had been over 5 months since I last saw Dean. I tried to call, but his phone was off. Cass couldn’t sense him, and Crowley never gave me any answers when I summoned him.
When Crowley saw I kept the baby he became enraged. “Stay away from Dean!” He shouted at me after my last summoning. I was desperate for Dean to come home, to know I was having his baby, our baby. “Crowley, I haven’t seen him in 5 months. He has a right to know about his baby. Please, send him home.” I begged as the tears fell.
Crowley stepped closer, smirking. “Oh love, you think he’s going to come home and give you what you want? He loves being a demon, more than he loves you.” My heart broke, my voice barely a whisper, “I don’t believe you, Dean has and will always love me.” Crowley grabbed my chin, whipped the tears away, “You know there is one way you can be with him.”
My eyes went wide and my heart beat wildly in my chest, “How?” “Make a deal with me, become a demon and you and Dean can be together forever.” “All it will cost me is my soul, right?” “No, his soul.” Crowley pointed to my belly. “Are you insane?! I’m not giving you my son’s soul.” “Well then I guess you won't have Dean back.”
“No! Just leave Crowley. I refuse to give you my baby’s soul.” “Then so be it.” Crowley was gone.
Crowley returned to the bar he left Dean at. Dean was busy working his magic on the latest woman to throw herself at him. Dean looked up and saw Crowley was back. “Where did you go?” Dean asked over his whiskey glass. “Just handling some business.”
Dean stepped closer to Crowley, “What’s that smell? Why do I smell Y/N on you?” Dean’s eyes flashed black.
“She summoned me, trying to get me to bring you home. I offered her a deal, but she turned it down. See, Dean. She doesn’t love you. She wouldn’t close the deal to be with you again.”
“Where is she? You didn’t hurt her did you?” Dean growled. “Why do you care? You don’t want her anymore. You’re free to be with her.” Crowley motioned to the blonde at the end of the bar.
Dean stood and growled. “Fuck this!” Then he was gone.
I was asleep on the bed when I heard the bunker door slam shut. It startled me awake. I heard the sound of boots on the iron staircase and the sound was familiar to me.
I sat up and held my belly. Jumping out of bed I flung open the door and came face to face with Dean. I gasped softly, “Dean?! What are you doing here?”
Dean smirked as his eyes raked over my form. His eyes went wide when his gaze found my belly. “What is this?” He pointed at my belly.
My words caught in my throat, “Our son.” I whispered out. He stepped closer to me and inhaled. It sent a shiver down my spine.
“That’s why you tasted and smelled so good. You were pregnant.” His eyes flashed black and I realized how close he was to me, to my son.
He gripped my chin, “You’ve been keeping this from me for months? You’ve kept my son from me?!”
I tried to pull away, tears streamed down my face. His grip was tight and it hurt. “Dean, please let me go. You’re hurting me.”
His eyes went back to his beautiful green color. A hint of sadness and regret in them. His hand dropped and he touched my belly.
Our son kicked and Dean’s eyes met mine. “Y/N, please come with me.” “Dean, I can’t. Our son deserves better than living with demons. Crowley wanted his soul, Dean. What the hell do you think he’d do if I went with you. I have to protect him. He’s the best part of you and me.”
“I want both of you! You will come with me.” “No I won’t, Dean!” I slid past him and ran. My heart is pounding in my ears.
Dean walked behind me. I ran through the halls of the bunker. I hid and sent Sam a text asking for help.
Me: Sam. Dean’s here. Help!
Sam: On my way! Just hide
I hid, terrified of what was going to happen if he found me.
The lights suddenly went out and the emergency lights came on, casting a red glow in the darkness.
I heard Dean’s heavy boots in the hallway and his voice calling me, “Come on sweetheart, come with me. You can’t hide from me forever.”
I heard the sound of the bunker door and Dean growled. “Sammmmy, I know you’re home.” Dean sang through the hallway.
“Dean, leave her alone, please. She’s pregnant.” I heard Sammy plead. Then I heard a loud bang. It echoed through the bunker and caused me to jump.
I heard it again, then again, and it was closer. “Sweetheart, come out, come out wherever you are.”
Cass appeared next to me. He placed his hand on my shoulder, “It’s time, Y/N. You have to be strong. It’s the only thing that can save him.”
Tears fell as I stood. I took a deep breath and came out of hiding. As I turned the corner I saw Dean standing in the middle of the hallway, bathed in the red glow of the emergency lights, holding a bat.
“Dean, please. Please fight this. Come back to me, and him. We need you baby.”
Dean’s smirk spread across his face and his lips curled. Sending a shiver down my spine. “Oh sweetheart, it’s sweet how you think I want to be cured.”
He stepped closer, inches from my face. My chest rising and falling as my breath quickened. His lips ghosted mine, “Dean, please.” As I begged him to fight, Cass came up behind him and subdued him. Sam put the demon cuffs on him and I backed away.
“You bitch! You’ll pay for that, you and your bastard baby.” Dean hissed. Cass and Sam took Dean to a locked room in the bunker. He was placed in the center of a devil’s trap and the demon cuffs were to help hold him in place. I couldn’t help but break down.
Sam and Cass started to inject Dean with blessed blood in order to cure him. I stood outside the door, listening to his screams and growls as his body fought to rid itself of the demon within. My heart and soul ached for Dean.
I placed a hand on my belly, trying to steady my nerves. “Your daddy is going to come back to us, baby. He’s strong and you are so wanted.” The screams in the room stopped, and Sam and Cass came out, locking the door behind them.
I looked up at Sam. He looked exhausted, “Is he okay?” I asked in a soft voice. “I hope so, he passed out. He’s breathing, so he’s okay.” Sam touched my shoulder, “He’s going to be okay, Y/N. Dean is stronger than you think.” I just nodded. “Come on, you need to get off your feet. All this isn’t good for the baby.” Sam said as he guided me back to my room.
Sam told me to rest and he would cook something for all of us to eat. I laid down on the bed and before I knew it I was asleep. There was a light knock on my door. When I looked up it was Sam with some food. “Thanks Sammy.” I said with a gentle smile. He nodded and left the room.
I ate the food and carried my dishes into the kitchen.
Curiosity got the better of me, I tiptoed to the door to the room where Dean was being held. I put my ear to the door and couldn’t hear anything. I listened harder, I heard whispers. “Y/N, please help me. I’m so thirsty. Please baby.”
My heart ached for him. I crept to the kitchen and grabbed a glass of water and returned to the room. Pushing open the door my heart pounded in my chest. Dean’s bloodshot, green eyes met mine, “Hey sweetheart.” He said weakly.
“Dean? Is that really you?” I asked with a tinge of sadness and surprise in my voice. “Yeah, it’s me.”
Without another thought I ran to his side. Removing the handcuffs I handed him the water. He drank the water in one gulp. His eyes met mine and he stood. I looked up at him and he looked down at me. His eyes trailed from mine to my growing belly.
Dean’s hand lightly brushed my belly. I placed my hand on his. I collapsed in his arms, “Oh Dean! I’ve missed you so much.” His grip on me tightened. From behind me I heard the sound of running. As I turned to look, Dean grabbed me, spun me around and held my back against his chest. I felt his hand around my throat.
Sam and Cass appeared at the door. I was so confused, trying to get out of his grip, he held me tighter. As I looked up at him his eyes were black again. “Dean, let her go!” Sam yelled as he came into the room. “No! I don’t think I will. Did you really think you could cure me? Ha! I’m stronger than that.” Dean’s grip around my throat tightened and I was starting to feel myself slipping in and out of consciousness.
Cass appeared behind Dean and put his arms around him. Dean’s grip on me loosened enough for me to get away. I dropped to the ground.
Dean let out a bone chilling growl. His voice is a mixture of his and a demonic sound. His eyes flashed black as Sam lunged and injected him again with more blood. I sat on the floor looking on in horror. Cass’ grip on Dean tight and unwavering.
Then without warning Dean became quiet and the room was still. Sam opened the flask of holy water and splashed it on Dean. There was no reaction.
Dean’s eyes opened and the soulless black was replaced by his beautiful green eyes. His eyes met mine and when Cass let him go he dropped to his knees and cradled me in his arms.
“Oh sweetheart, I’m so sorry. I’m so sorry for all of this. I could have killed you.” I sobbed in his arms. Dean, my Dean was back. I lifted my tear stained face and looked at him, “Dean, you came back to me, to us.”
I placed a hand on my belly. Dean’s eyes taking in my swollen belly. “Is this really happening?” Dean asked as he touched my belly. “Yes, Dean. We are having a little boy.” Dean cupped my face and placed a soft kiss on my lips. “I love you so much, sweetheart. Thank you for not giving up on me. For helping me come back to both of you.”
I touched his cheek, “I’ll never give up on you, Dean. You deserve someone to fight for you.”
Dean stood up and helped me off the floor. He walked over to Cass and then Sam, giving them both a hug and thanking them for bringing him back. Sam was glad to have his brother back.
Cass was glad to have his friend back.
That night Dean and I laid in each other’s arms talking about the future and our little boy. I could tell he felt a tremendous amount of guilt about not being there for me during the majority of the pregnancy. I laid in his arms, leaned up on my elbow and lightly touched his face, “Dean, I wasn’t alone. I had Sam and Cass. I don’t blame you for not being here. I blame that mark on your arm, and Crowley. He knew I was pregnant and told me to stay away from you. Then he tried to get me to give him our son’s soul to bring you back to me. As much as I love you, I couldn’t do it. I knew you’d never forgive me, and I’d never forgive myself.”
Dean kissed me softly, “I’m glad you didn’t. I know it was hard not having me here. I promise I won’t leave your side again. I love you, Y/N.” “I love you too, Dean. I’m so glad you’re back.” I kissed Dean’s lips softly then laid my head on his chest. He held me tight as I laid on my side, curled up next to him. Our son’s soft kicks made him smile each time he felt them.
As Dean drifted off to sleep he looked down at you in his arms, and your swollen belly and he felt an overwhelming sense of love and the need to protect both you and your son. He didn’t know what he did to deserve you, but he planned on spending the rest of his life being the man you both deserved.

Appointment in Samarra is a banger of an episode.
Let's talk about the fallacy of "Dean only cares about Sam he would let the whole world burn bleep blop bloop"--a fallacy often used by a certain standom faction.
Canon events:
Dean shows his self-sacrificial inclinations and he is doing it for Sam's sake, and lets himself be killed for 6 minutes so he can talk to Death, to get Sam's soul back, but the rest of the episode--and later episodes of the series--will show Sam isn't the only one Dean is willing to make sacrifices for, including the part where Dean temp kills himself to help the ghost of a child for one example, and is even more willing to go there because of his grief over Cas. Loss and grief often drives Dean. In S6, he is grieving Sam, because Sam's soul is gone
Dean's intent isn't to do this only for Sam, and he asks for both Sam's soul and Adam to be lifted from the cage
Death, who has had it up to here with Winchester shenanigans forces Dean to choose between the brother he's known his entire life and the half-brother he barely knows. It's not because Dean doesn't care about Adam, because Dean asked to save Adam not just Sam. There's nothing twisted or unhinged about Dean choosing Sam's soul, when Death plays hardball at him. But if the other person was someone Dean knows well and loves dearly...it isn't so simple. He also cares about people.
Death makes a deal with Dean to get Sam's soul back where Dean has to be Death for 24 hours and if Dean gives up, if he takes off the ring, he loses and the deal is off (This is one of my favorite Dean-focused episodes btw)
It starts out simple for Dean. A robber. An adult man having a heart attack enabled by his own junk food habits. Dean knows things aren't this simple but in this ep he's initially letting himself whistle past the graveyard that this will be a cakewalk...innocents don't die. Only crooks and people who don't take proper care of their bodies, right? The irony doesn't escape me that Dean himself is a junk food enthusiast himself. As is Death.
But it's not so simple. There's a 12 year old girl with a weak heart. Dean can't endure killing her and mis-uses some high-minded ideas about free will and defying fate to justify his refusal to do his job as Death in this one instance. The ripple effect causes the death of another innocent, the nurse who would have assisted in the little girl's surgery, but it was cancelled due to her miraculous recovery, the nurse heads home, and therefore winds up in a horrible car accident that takes her life, and she dies because the heart surgeon doesn't return to the hospital in time, because he went home as well due to the little girl's miraculous recovery
Dean then witnesses the grief of the husband of the nurse, raw and large and he identifies with it and his regrets are increasing
Dean then acts to save the husband, who in a drunk fit of grief, almost drives his car into a busload of people.
To save an entire busload of people and the grieving husband, Dean takes off the ring. He loses the bet. He willingly relinquishes that chance to save Sam's soul to save others.
He returns to the little girl to set things right, because if he doesn't, the ripple effect will follow her the rest of her life and people will keep dying because Dean as Death couldn't bear to kill her.
Meanwhile soulless Sam is off the chain, there's the confirmation he regards Sam as an other, and himself a separate being. He has to kill Bobby for the spell to protect him from having Sam's soul jammed back into him and attacks Bobby.
The reason Dean gets to the point where he realizes he'll have to kill soulless Sam is because soulless Sam tried to kill Bobby. (Note fallacy B, Dean doesn't really care about Cas because he's willing to kill Godstiel, when soulless Sam and Godstiel are parallel situations and Dean was ready to kill soulless Sam). You can see the exact moment where soulless Sam realizes Dean is ready to kill him, the realization from both of them.
Having put Dean through the wringer and gotten him to understand his ripple effect of his actions on the natural order, Death then decides to get Sam's soul back after all.
This is not due to the deal Dean made. Dean did not save Sam's soul. Death handed it over after Dean blew the deal. Death has his own agendas and wants Dean to be detective and look into what's going on with the souls. And maybe he does have a soft spot for Dean. Cosmic beings often seem to.
Canon is canon is canon is canon, Dean's love is not finite, Dean's heroism isn't limited, Dean never ever only cares about Sam, even in S2 when he was in a drunk griefrage yelling at Bobby, he was speaking from a place of deep hurt but he would never have actually let the world end for it, Dean's capacity to care is vast, and far far more than a certain fandom faction ever has the ability to comprehend and grasp. It's their loss entirely.
